What is microblading?

Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo procedure that uses a blade of very fine needles to deposit pigment into the skin to resemble hair-like strokes. It is the most natural style to provide fuller looking brows. This technique is more suitable for dry/normal skin.

does it hurt?

Pain level does vary between clients but generally most have said it is very minimal and would rate it 2 out of a 10. I also use lidocaine cream with an additional lidocaine gel to make you as comfortable as possible!

how long is the appointment?

The length of the initial and touch up sessions will vary between artists. I currently typically spend about 4 hours for each of my clients because I want to ensure I am providing care and quality work.

How long does microblading last?

Microblading is considered a semi-permanent tattoo and will fade over time. Touch-ups are recommended every 1 to 2 years to maintain shape, color, and detail. How often depends on a number of factors including:

  • skin type (oily skin fades faster)

  • pigment color used (lighter colors fade faster)

  • sun exposure (can cause fading and discoloration of pigment)

  • anti-aging products (e.g. Retin-A or Alpha Hydroxy can increase cell turnover rate)

can i exercise after getting microbladed?

You must avoid exercising or heavily sweating for 7 days following your treatment. Light exercise is allowed (minimal sweating), but you must clean the tattoo area with lukewarm water as soon as you are done working out. The salt in the sweat will fade the pigment very quickly and give poor results.

can i get tattooed if I am pregnant or breastfeeding?

As a precaution to avoid any complications, we do not perform treatment on pregnant or nursing women.

what should i do before my eyebrow procedure? (PRE-CARE Instructions)

  • If you have an ideal shape and color in mind, bring a few reference photos with you to your appointment

  • You may fill in your eyebrows as you normally would so we can take into consideration the shape you desire

In order for your new brows to heal properly (and look their best) Pre and Post Care Instructions are of the utmost importance!

PRE-CARE INSTRUCTIONS are designed to limit bleeding and skin sensitivities during the service. Excessive bleeding during the procedure can dilute the pigment color and lead to poor results.

what to expect

Swelling and redness is minimal with most clients, and will disappear within 24-48 hours.  In some cases, it may last around the eyebrow area for up to 3 days, but will not prevent working or socializing. The treated area may feel a bit like a sunburn afterwards but there should only be minimal discomfort.

The complete healing process takes about 6-8 weeks, at which time the true color of the tattoo is evident. During this process, your tattoo will soften and lighten. Be patient, even if you think too much color has been lost, as your skin is still regenerating and naturally exfoliating. Wait at least 6 weeks to see the true color, as it seems to take on new strength, and it is only after 6 weeks that your touch-up/adjustment can be done. Keep in mind that microbladed brows healed up to 30% softer than the initial color.

Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skintype will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. The tattooed hair strokes tend to have a more crisp look once healed on dry skin compared to more blurry strokes on oily skin. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary.

Healed results will vary with each individual client and using a pencil or powder may still be needed. Additional sessions (charged accordingly) may be required to obtain optimal results.

aftercare

Keep the brow area clean by using a natural fragrance-free gel cleanser ((such as Cetaphil) and water. Hands must be freshly clean. Avoid use of abrasive washcloths or sponges.

Allow eyebrows to completely air dry before applying ointment. Apply the after care ointment given (for the amount of days recommended by your artist)with freshly washed hands or a Q-Tip.

DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring and pigment loss!

COMPLETELY avoid direct sun exposure and tanning beds for a minimum of 4 weeks after your procedure. Direct sunlight can cause the pigment to change color while it is healing and can also cause hyper pigmentation and scarring.

Avoid the pool, sauna, steam rooms, hot showers, and/or hot baths for 3 weeks.

Avoid sweating for a full 10 days. Any physical effort, gym, hot weather, any other activity that may cause sweating through or on the brows will expel pigment from the dermis producing poor results.

Avoid sleeping on your face/brows for the first 10 days.

Keep your bangs and hair pulled back from your face for the first 10 days.

NO makeup or skincare products to be used on the treated area for two weeks.

NO facials, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

NO botox for 4 weeks. We recommend that it’s best to wait until after your touch up heals to get Botox, as an educated injector will take your new brows into consideration when choosing where to inject.

After 10 days, once the area has healed completely, consider using sunblock when going out in the sun to stop the color from fading.

Eyebrow tinting should not be undertaken for 2 weeks after your procedure.

Avoid Retin-A, Chemical Peels and Microderms around the brow area once healed.
